Spectra Review

After having unsuccessfully tried four stores in California looking for Spectra Vondergeist, I was getting ready to have to buckle down and find her on eBay. Luckily, once back in the UK, I was able to find her in Hamley’s.

Spectra is a stunning doll. Her face looks somewhat more mature than many of the other MH dolls, due to the lengthened features and the sunken cheekbones (which resemble Skeleton Girl’s face mould from the Create-A-Monster booster pack). Her body is unique in that it fades to clear, making her more ghost-like. I love this effect, I think it was done very tastefully with Spectra. Her hair, too, is gorgeous. I love the two-toned violet and the length.

In general I’m not crazy about the MH stock clothes, (I know, shoot me…), but I like Spectra’s. The little metal chains and the variation in textiles makes her outfit look a little more expensive than some of the other dolls’. I like her earrings, but felt that the belt and necklace were a little too plastic and cheap looking, especially next to the real chains on her top. They are easily removable though so that isn’t a problem. She also comes with an ADORABLE purse, and a little ghost ferret pet (see below).

As a character, I LOVE Spectra’s  somewhat delusional nature. The idea of a ghost being a gossip columnist is so cute…her flaws are charming even though  her character  is, to a certain extent, ripped off of Gossip Girl.

Overall I’m beyond thrilled to have found Spectra and very impressed by her as a doll :)
